City Council wants Wythenshawe views on how to spend cash on cleaning up area

Manchester City Council want ideas bout how they can spend a £14.5 million windfall from Manchester Airport on cleaning up the city.

Council bosses say they want to spend the one-ff payment from their  investment in Manchester Airport on creating a cleaner and better managed environment in the city.

A spokesperson said: “With approximately 13,000 enquiries a month from residents about environmental issues including graffiti, flytipping and emptying bins, we know this is a priority for communities. The question is, how shall we spend it?

“We want to hear your ideas and proposals. Tell us about your environmental concern and how you think it could be resolved. Ideas should not create ongoing costs like the hiring of staff, but instead think about new facilities like more and better litter bins, new equipment and initiatives to challenge the behaviour of those who cause environmental problems in your neighbourhood.

“We’re determined to improve our city and by working alongside communities and businesses, we can use this additional money to make a significant and lasting impact.

“If you’d like to read more on the proposals for how this money could be used, please read the Executive Report on the Clean and Green Initiative.”

Ideas can be submitted via the City Council website.
