Parents invited to Newall Green High School open evening
Parents considering which secondary school to send their children to in September 2015 can find out what Newall Green High School has to offer at their open evening tonight (Wednesday 18th June).
They will receive a special welcome on from the Wythenshawe school’s headteacher, Alison Wright, before joining tours led by teachers from the School Leadership Team and a trained group of proud pupils.
Mrs Wright said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces and explaining to families all that Newall Green High School has to offer, including excellent teaching and great facilities. We are a successful school with high expectations: we set challenging targets for all our students so that they can fulfil their potential and prepare for a future career.
“Our Sixth Form is recognised by Ofsted as offering an attractive range of work-related and A-level courses. And now that the Government has increased the school leaving age to 18, many parents of primary school children are realising just how important it is for their chosen secondary school to have a strong sixth form.
“We aim to provide a really warm, friendly welcome at our Open Evening – and I can promise one or two nice surprises, as well.”
This year’s Open Evening, from 6pm-8.30pm, features a new display highlighting the work of every department, which will be staged in the school’s large covered courtyard.
“Over the past few months, the upheaval connected with the Metrolink extension to Manchester Airport has made travel in Wythenshawe a little difficult,” added Mrs Wright. “But I’m glad to say that the major roadworks are now finished, so parents from all the local primary schools will find it easy to get to us.”
Parents from all primary schools are welcome at Newall Green High School’s open evening, 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 18th June. No appointments are necessary. Free parking is provided.
