Police appeal to mystery campers in Wythenshawe Park to come forward after finding baby keepsakes in abandoned tent
Police say they want to make sure the campers have not come to any harm after being called to the area of the park known locally as Northenden Round, on Tuesday, where they discovered the tent
Inside the tent was a keepsake tin with mementos of a baby inside. Officers have searched the park area and found no evidence to suggest anything untoward had occurred.
Now police are appealing for those who have been living in the tent to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Cunliffe said: “It is quite clear those who have been living in the tent have been doing so for some time although at the moment, we do not know whether one or more than one person have stayed there. We are concerned for their welfare and want to make sure they have not come to any harm.
“We have had a police presence on the park for a few days but they have not returned and we are eager to make sure they have not come to any harm.
“An image of the keepsake we found has been issued and I would ask anyone who recognises it or may know who they may belong to, to call us. I am keen to reunite them with their rightful owner and ensure they are safe and well.”
