Family pay tribute to pensioner killed in Wythenshawe motorcycle collision

The family of a man who died after a collision with a motorbike in south Manchester have paid tribute to him.

At about 1.45pm on Friday 19 June 2015, police were called to Rowlandsway in Wythenshawe following reports a pedestrian and motorbike were in collision.

Officers attended and found the man, 67, had suffered a very serious head injury and was taken to the Salford Royal Hospital for treatment.

Sadly, he later died as a result of his injuries. He has been named as Jacinto Cabrera-Vargas, from the Fallowfield area, known as Jack to his family and friends.

In a statement, his family said: “We are devastated by the loss of Jack, our much-loved father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

“We’d like to thank all of the paramedics and staff at Salford Royal Hospital who did everything they could for him, and to Greater Manchester Police who have supported us and kept us informed throughout the last few days.

“We would also like to thank the many members of the public who assisted Jack in the immediate aftermath of the collision.

“Jack will be very much missed by all of his family and friends and will be forever in our hearts.”

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed until 10 August 2015 pending further inquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
