The school, at the corner of Moor Road and Altrincham Road, Wythenshawe is investing £10 million in the new development which includes a dedicated English and maths block, dining room extension and state of the art sporting facilities with changing rooms and multi-use games area as well as the football pitch.

Mike said: “It is a pleasure to officially break the ground for Manchester Health Academy’s extension.  This is a wonderful school and the brand new block and state-of-the-art facilities will support many more local children in developing skills and in securing their futures. One of the Academy’s key priorities is to provide leadership opportunities to all, which really resonates with me – when I was a teacher my belief was that the primary purpose of leadership is to create more leaders.  I wish the students and staff of the Academy every success in educating our leaders of the future.”

The new block will be a three-story building on the Altrincham Road side of the site, attached to the current building.  Manchester Health Academy currently educates approximately 700 students, and will see this rise to just fewer than 1100 students by 2022.

Academy principal, Damian Owen, said: “I am looking forward to seeing our expansion plans come to fruition in tandem with our ongoing work to drive up standards of teaching and learning.  I am passionate about providing children with the best education possible, and this new teaching space will extend our excellent school facilities for a new generation of students.”
