Fund raising appeal launched for funeral of young Wythenshawe dad

UntitledFriends and family of Matthew Summerfield, who died after a street fight in Wythenshawe, aged 28, have launched an appeal to help pay for his funeral.

The appeal, launched by Karina Ryan  on the Just Giving website hopes to raise £2,000.

Karina posted: “As you all know Matthew was taken far to soon and in such a cruel way, he was one of the most sweet beautful lads you could ever meet and all who knew him had nothing but nice things to say about him, i think it would be nice as a community to relieve the funeral costs for his family at this time, r.i.p matty gone but will never ever be forgotten xx.”

Matthew was taken to hospital with head injuries after police were called to reports of fighting in Moat Road at 6pm on October 14.

He died in hospital on Tuesday, October 24.

Now Greater Manchester Police have urged anyone who has mobile phone or other footage which could help the investigation to upload it anonymously to scd.cctv@gmp.police.uk via Dropbox.

In a statement Matthew’s family said: “Matthew was a fun loving son, father, brother, uncle and cousin who made everyone smile. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.

“He had one of the most cheekiest smiles that everyone loved.

“Matthew is going to be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

“As Matthew would say “ONE LOVE TO YOU ALL”.”

Kevin Reilly, 34, of Altcar Walk in Woodhouse Park in Manchester was charged in connection with this incident on October 22.
